<image:caption>The pain of broken relationships. Unrest within your own mind. Disillusionment and chronic stress from contextual factors. We will all taste difficulty, loss and heartache in some form, at some point. But how we engage with suffering - both individually and as communities - can make all the difference.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home</image:title>
<image:caption>Hope is real. There are times when the darkness feels smothering. You may not be able to see any way out, and yet be just as certain that you can’t stay where you are. Sometimes the sense of darkness comes from an invisible threat looming in the societal structure around us - from something so normalized in our culture that we don’t even recognize our internal symptoms as indications that something is wrong in a macro level. Or maybe the darkness is but buried deep in your memory. There could be a part of your past that you are determined not to remember, not to feel. You may be an expert at avoiding it, but doing so drains away your energy for the rest of life. Sometimes it’s in those dark places particularly that the seeds of new life take root. The roots of change grow down, deep under the surface before any evidence of growth is visible. I believe that when we turn and face the darkness, we are most likely to find that the light is actually greater. Your struggle is not the end of the story - the struggle itself means that there’s still hope.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Work experience Prior to entering the counseling field, I worked for a non-profit organization offering after-school programs for urban youth. I also served on staff with a church plant in Richmond, Virginia, for seven years. Following graduation from RTS, I worked for a program that provides free mental health services to students at the local public school, before shifting into full-time private practice.</image:caption>

<image:title>Bio - Education</image:title>
<image:caption>My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts in English from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA. I studied literature, history, culture, and character formation with the same curiosity that fuels my work as a counselor: the fascination with the inner experiences of human beings as formed by and active agents in forming the societies around them. I graduated from the Master’s of Arts in Counseling program at Reformed Theological Seminary - Orlando.</image:caption>
